WHO Describes Al-Shifa as ‘Death Zone’ Amid Ongoing Israeli Strikes on Gaza Strip

The Israeli military campaign in Gaza has persisted for 44 consecutive days, leading to significant challenges such as non-functional hospitals and a deteriorating humanitarian situation. Among the affected medical facilities is Al-Shifa, described by the World Health Organization as a “death zone.”

The Israeli army’s expansion of operations to destroy Hamas has prompted plans to evacuate the remaining patients from the beleaguered hospitals.

Throughout the conflict, various areas, including hospitals, refugee camps, schools, and residential zones in Gaza, have been targeted in relentless Israeli bombardments. The impact of these attacks is evident in the high casualty figures, with over 12,300 Palestinians, including 5,000 children, reported killed since the conflict escalated on October 7. This has created a dire humanitarian crisis in the region.

The recent wave of Israeli atrocities follows a surprise attack initiated by Hamas on October 7, resulting in heightened tensions and prolonged hostilities. Despite growing calls for a ceasefire, the conflict shows no signs of abating, leading to continued suffering for the people of Gaza. The situation remains complex and challenging, with the international community expressing deep concern about the ongoing violence and its devastating consequences.
