You may now upload HD photos to WhatsApp.

A new function that allows users to quickly exchange high-definition (HD) photographs while maintaining their proportions has been added to WhatsApp. The most recent beta versions of the app for both Android and iOS smartphones include this capability.

Users previously had to transfer HD photographs using different techniques like email or Bluetooth. Now that it has been integrated into the app itself, WhatsApp has streamlined the procedure.

Users will notice a menu choice labelled “Photo Quality” when choosing a large-size photo to share. There are two alternatives available: HD quality (4096 x 2692) and Standard quality (1600 x 1052). Users may manually share high-resolution photographs by choosing the “HD” option. It’s crucial to remember that there is still some minor compression applied to the photos.

Pictures that are shared in “HD quality” have an HD tag that may be seen by the receiver. It’s important to note that this option is presently only available for photographs that are shared inside chats and not for the preservation of the original quality.

The functionality is first being made available to a small group of beta testers who have installed the relevant beta versions. In the upcoming weeks, there should be a wider release.

Other improvements that WhatsApp is developing include a revamped settings page, a new calling button for iOS, support for the iPad as an Android companion device, channels for information broadcasting, and a “Status Archive” tool for WhatsApp Business.
