Zartaj Gul Obtains Bail From PHC After Seeking Refuge

Gul, a trusted ally of Imran Khan, sought refuge at Peshawar High Court after a dramatic day. A large contingent of police, including female constables, gathered outside the court to apprehend the former climate minister.

Following this, PHC Chief Justice Mohammad Ibrahim Khan instructed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police not to arrest Zartaj Gul and advised her to approach the appropriate court. The Chief Justice reportedly returned to the court after 9 pm. Throughout the day, Gul remained inside the barroom, hesitant to leave due to the heavy police presence.

Gul’s legal representative, Syed Sikander Hayat Shah, revealed that the PTI leader is confronting seven cases related to the May 9 riots. He pointed out that the court could not address the case within its regular working hours during the winter break.

In an emotional moment, Zartaj Gul, identifying herself as the sister of a martyr and a patriotic Pakistani, broke down in tears. She questioned the rejection of her nomination papers and affirmed her commitment to her principles.

During the legal proceedings, the PHC bench summoned KP police officials and Advocate General Aamir Javed, who appeared late on Wednesday.

Zartaj emphasized that she is participating in elections, not engaging in warfare. She expressed dismay over the detention of her proposer and seconder, followed by the rejection of her nomination papers. Throughout the proceedings, she maintained her stance on principles.
