Bilawal Expresses Concern Over Slow Election Results Pace

PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed concern over the slow pace of election results following the conclusion of voting in the 2024 general election. Taking to the microblogging site “X,” Bilawal stated that while results were coming in slowly, the initial outcomes were encouraging for the PPP and the independent candidates supported by the party.

Meanwhile, PPP Central Election Cell’s In-charge Senator Taj Haider wrote a letter to the Election Commission (ECP) regarding alleged irregularities in the polling process at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (K-P) provincial assembly’s PK-16 constituency. According to Haider, there were claims of opaque polling practices at the High School Timergara polling station, where groups of 10 women voters were sent to cast votes in closed rooms, and PPP polling agents were barred from entering.

The PK-16 Lower Dir-III constituency is situated in Lower Dir district of K-P, with Timergara city as its headquarters. This area has witnessed shifts in political alignments over the years, reflecting the changing preferences of its electorate. Candidates from various parties have contested elections in PK-16, advocating for issues such as infrastructure development, education, and healthcare.

Like many rural areas in Pakistan, PK-16 has faced governance challenges, poverty, and issues related to access to basic amenities. Despite these challenges, residents have actively participated in the democratic process to elect representatives who can address their concerns at the provincial level.
