Imran Khan Claims President Alvi's Concerns About PTI Rights Go Unheard

Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), expressed frustration over what he perceives as a lack of attention to human rights violations against his party members. Speaking to journalists in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, Imran Khan stated that President Arif Alvi’s concerns about human rights violations were not being heeded.

He lamented what he described as the worst crackdown on PTI activists, emphasizing the impact on people’s fundamental human rights to live freely in Pakistan. Imran Khan mentioned that a human rights petition from his party is pending in the Supreme Court, but he claimed that it is not being heard.

Responding to a reporter’s question about discussing the human rights petition with the President, Imran Khan remarked that nobody listens to Arif Alvi. He mentioned that his legal team is currently contesting elections, which is why they could not appear in court on that day. Imran Khan asserted his commitment to fighting the case, and the legal team is expected to resume court appearances from Monday.

However, Imran Khan raised concerns about the fairness of the judicial process, claiming that the judge, jury, and prosecution are aligned against him. He alleged that the verdict on the cipher case, as mentioned by Najam Sethi, is predetermined and criticized the perceived leniency towards Nawaz Sharif. Imran Khan accused unnamed individuals of creating divisions within his party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Additionally, he expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of cases against Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif, asserting that his cases are being tried every day.
