A biographical film detailing the life of Elon Musk is currently in development at the New York-based studio A24, with acclaimed director Darren Aronofsky, known for Black Swan, set to helm the project, according to a source familiar with the matter.
A24 has secured the rights to Walter Isaacson’s biography on Elon Musk, who currently holds the title of the world’s richest person. The Musk biopic is slated to be produced by Aronofsky’s production company, Protozoa Pictures. Elon Musk expressed his approval of Aronofsky’s involvement in the project in a post on the social media platform X.

This collaboration follows A24’s prior partnership with Aronofsky on his film The Whale, starring Brendan Fraser, which received accolades at the Academy Awards. A24, known for its acclaimed films, earned 18 Academy Award nominations across six productions in the latest awards season, ranking second only to entertainment giant Walt Disney.
Walter Isaacson, the author of the Musk biography, has a track record of having his works adapted into films. His book on Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was transformed into a movie in 2015, with Michael Fassbender portraying the late tech magnate. The Musk biography was released in September by Simon & Schuster, a book publishing powerhouse owned by private equity firm KKR.
The process of securing the rights for the Musk biopic was reportedly highly competitive, involving top studios and filmmakers. Elon Musk, who holds leadership positions in SpaceX, Tesla, The Boring Company, Neuralink, and acquired the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) for $44 billion in a notable saga last year, remains a prominent figure at the intersection of technology and industry.
