An anti-terrorism court (ATC) sentenced former Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Chief Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Khalid Khurshid to 34 years in prison for threatening security agencies. In addition to the sentence, the court imposed a Rs 600,000 fine on Khurshid and directed the inspector general of police to arrest him.

The charges stemmed from an incident on May 26, 2024, when Khurshid allegedly threatened GB’s chief secretary, the chief election commissioner, and security agencies during a PTI rally.

Khurshid’s legal troubles began after his removal from office as CM in July 2023 due to a fake degree scandal. He is also implicated in multiple other cases related to PTI’s activities.
