The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing for the suo motu case investigating the killing of journalist Arshad Sharif. A three-member bench, led by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and including Justices Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Shahid Bilal Hassan, will review the case on July 29. Notices have been issued to the attorney general, FIA director general, Interior Secretary, and IG Islamabad, among others.

A Kenyan high court recently ruled that police acted unlawfully by using lethal force against Sharif in 2022. Sharif, a Pakistani news anchor, was shot dead by police who claimed it was a case of mistaken identity. Judge Stella Mutuku declared that the use of lethal force against Sharif was unlawful and unconstitutional.
