Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur held an important meeting with a high-level United Nations delegation to discuss ongoing public welfare projects in the province. The delegation, led by UN Resident Coordinator for Pakistan, Mohammad Yahya, included notable members such as Ms. Hiroko, Ms. Afki Bootsman, and Carlos Abbas Geha, alongside provincial officials.
The discussions centered around key welfare programs in K-P, with a particular focus on health sector advancements. Chief Minister Gandapur stressed the importance of eliminating polio, improving maternal and child health, and reducing neonatal deaths. He reiterated that polio eradication is a top priority for the provincial government, with coordinated efforts being made in partnership with international organizations.

Education was another major focus of the meeting, where Gandapur highlighted the province’s initiatives to improve girls’ education, particularly in the merged districts. He shared that 36,000 scholarships have been awarded to girls in these areas to promote literacy and educational opportunities.
Other topics discussed included environmental protection, cultural and tourism development, and the welfare of religious and cultural minorities. The Chief Minister assured the UN delegation of the government’s commitment to these areas, including providing solar systems to places of worship for minority communities.
Security and logistical concerns for UN agencies working in K-P were also addressed, with Gandapur promising full cooperation and enhanced safety measures for their staff. The UN delegation praised the provincial government for its efforts, particularly in health, and pledged continued support for the province’s social welfare initiatives.
