In a major step toward improving public safety, the Islamabad Police have officially launched the Taxi Verification App—an innovative digital solution designed to protect passengers by ensuring that taxis and their drivers are properly registered. The initiative was led by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and implemented under the leadership of IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
The app allows users to scan a QR code displayed inside participating taxis to verify the vehicle and driver details against the Islamabad Police database. Verified taxis showcase the driver’s name and photograph, fostering transparency and accountability. In case of concerns, passengers can use the app’s emergency feature to report issues instantly.

Initially available for download from the Islamabad Police’s official website, the app will soon be released on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. So far, over 2,000 taxis have been registered in the system, with more being added every day.
Director-General of Safe City Islamabad, Shakir Hussain Dawar, praised the initiative for building trust between law enforcement and the public. “This is a critical advancement in using technology to provide citizens with peace of mind,” he said.
The Taxi Verification App not only strengthens commuter confidence—particularly for women and late-night travelers—but also sets a precedent for other cities to adopt similar safety measures.
