Dr. Shazia Anjum explained that the explosion resulted from accumulated gas pressure after a leak, which ignited and caused the building to collapse. She noted that the building did not catch fire because the materials inside did not ignite, thus limiting additional damage. Dr. Javed clarified that the explosion was caused by a minor gas leak, not related to chemicals or cylinders.

Bahawalpur Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Anwar visited the site and confirmed that forensic teams will investigate to determine the precise cause of the explosion. He mentioned that the severely burned student’s condition would be reviewed to establish if the burns were due to fire or chemicals.

The incident has deeply impacted the Bahawalpur Islamia University community, and steps are being taken to prevent similar accidents in the future.
