The Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) reported that during the meeting, the visiting dignitary acknowledged and appreciated the Pakistan Army’s successes in the fight against terrorism. General Kurilla also expressed recognition for Pakistan’s relentless commitment to establishing peace and stability in the region.

The discussions between the two military leaders covered matters of mutual interest, the regional security situation, and defense cooperation. Both sides reiterated their desire to further enhance bilateral relations in all fields, underscoring the importance of cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.

The meeting occurred in the backdrop of recent calls from both countries to the interim Afghan government to take necessary measures to prevent their soil from becoming a safe haven for terrorist activities. The US State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller, emphasized the responsibility of the Afghan Taliban administration to control terror attacks originating from Afghan territory.

In response to the accusations, the Pakistan Army attributed the surge in militancy to “safe havens and liberty of action” provided to militants from Afghanistan, along with access to advanced weaponry, enabling them to carry out attacks inside Pakistan.

As regional security remains a paramount concern, the recognition of Pakistan’s efforts by the US Centcom chief highlights the significance of collaborative measures in fostering peace and stability in the region. The meeting signifies a positive step towards bolstering defense cooperation and strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and the United States.
