A high-level US congressional delegation, currently on a week-long visit to Pakistan, has lauded the Pakistan Armed Forces for their significant role in the fight against terrorism. Led by Congressman Jack Bergman, along with Thomas Souzzi and Jonathan Jackson, the delegation held a series of meetings with Pakistan’s top civil and military leadership, emphasizing bilateral cooperation and shared regional concerns.
During a key meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, discussions focused on regional security, defence collaboration, and mutual strategic interests. Memoranda of understanding were signed for IT training cooperation, while both sides underscored the importance of continuous engagement based on mutual respect and shared goals.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also hosted the US lawmakers, stressing Pakistan’s unmatched sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism. Highlighting Pakistan’s frontline role, he emphasized the need for international support in intelligence and technology sharing to combat terrorism more effectively. The delegation expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts and reaffirmed a strong commitment to enhanced cooperation across security, trade, and development sectors.
In addition to security talks, the delegation met other senior officials including Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal. These meetings focused on deepening economic ties, infrastructure development, and understanding the socio-economic aftermath of regional conflicts that have impacted Pakistan over decades. Iqbal called for a development-centered partnership rooted in current geopolitical realities.
The delegation is also set to visit Muzaffarabad in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where they will receive briefings on the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and security conditions at the Line of Control.
