Wahab Riaz Announces Cash Prize for Arshad Nadeem

The caretaker Provincial Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs in Punjab, Wahab Riaz, has announced a cash prize of Rs. 3 million for javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, in recognition of his recent achievement.

This decision follows Arshad Nadeem’s silver medal win in Budapest. The announcement came on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, who aims to acknowledge and appreciate the achievements of athletes.

Wahab Riaz emphasized that their support extends beyond Arshad Nadeem, and they are committed to recognizing the dedication and hard work of all athletes. He stated that the Punjab government is dedicated to supporting and promoting athletes who represent Pakistan on the international stage.

Furthermore, Wahab Riaz revealed plans to launch the Punjab Endowment Fund, a significant step to further strengthen the sports sector in the province. He expressed optimism about the future of sports and athletes in Punjab, highlighting the province’s commitment to the development of sports under the leadership of the Chief Minister.

Arshad Nadeem, a 25-year-old athlete from Mian Channu, secured the silver medal in the World Athletics Championship 2023 in Hungary with a best throw of 87.82 meters, finishing just behind Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra.
