South Africa Secured A Spot In The Semi-Finals By Defeating West Indies In The T20 World Cup

South Africa secured their place in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating the West Indies by 3 wickets. The 50th match of the tournament took place at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium, North Sound, Antigua.

South Africa successfully chased a target of 123 runs in the final over of T20 World Cup match that had been reduced to 17 overs due to rain. After winning the toss, South Africa opted to field first. The West Indies, batting first, managed to score 135 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

The West Indies had a rocky start, losing their first wicket for just 2 runs as Shai Hope was dismissed without scoring. Kyle Mayers contributed 35 runs, while Nicholas Pooran could only add 1 run to the total. Roston Chase played a pivotal role, scoring a crucial half-century. He made 52 runs off 42 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 3 fours. Andre Russell added 15 runs before being dismissed.

For the South African bowling side, Tabraiz Shamsi was the standout performer, taking 3 wickets. Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, Keshav Maharaj, and Kagiso Rabada each took one wicket, contributing to the team’s successful effort to restrict the West Indies’ score.
