Misbah, recognized as one of Pakistan’s finest cricketers, is seen as a leading candidate due to his previous success as captain, during which Pakistan achieved the No. 1 Test ranking. His strategic mindset and calm leadership make him a strong contender to steer the team’s red-ball future.
While Misbah is believed to be at the top of the list, PCB is also reviewing other notable names to ensure the most suitable coach is selected to guide the Test side. The board is proceeding thoughtfully with its decision.
This development comes in the wake of Mike Hesson’s recent appointment as the White-Ball Head Coach for Pakistan’s men’s team. Hesson takes over from Aqib Javed, who held the position on an interim basis following Gary Kirsten’s departure in October 2024.
About Misbah-ul-Haq:
Misbah-ul-Haq, a respected figure in Pakistan cricket, led the national side to numerous memorable victories.
