WhatsApp has introduced a new feature aimed at enhancing user security by allowing chats to be locked on linked devices. This update ensures that even when your phone is connected to another device, your WhatsApp conversations remain secure and inaccessible to unauthorized individuals.
The feature, currently being tested on Android beta version 2.24.11.9, adds a “Locked Chat” folder to the main screen of linked devices. To access these locked chats, users need to create a new secret code from the primary device settings, as the existing chat lock PIN will not work on the linked device.

Importantly, users only need to set up one secret code on their primary WhatsApp account device. This code will then sync with all linked devices, eliminating the need for multiple codes. This feature enhances security by adding an extra layer of protection on top of the existing device biometrics, ensuring chats remain private.
WhatsApp’s ongoing commitment to user security is evident with this new feature, providing users with peace of mind that their conversations are safeguarded against unauthorized access. If you’re an Android user, you can try this feature by updating to the latest beta version and enjoy the added security it brings to your messaging experience.
