The long-promised Meta AI chatbot has finally arrived on WhatsApp, and the update is now available in Pakistan as well.

You don’t need to manually download a new WhatsApp update since this is a server-side change, but it’s always a good idea to keep your app up to date, especially if you haven’t seen the feature yet.

To access Meta AI, simply tap the new search bar at the top labeled “Ask Meta AI or Search,” or tap the new Meta AI icon above the button to start new chats. It functions similarly to ChatGPT, as it’s a conversational AI chatbot designed to respond to prompts typed as queries. Powered by Meta’s Llama 2 open-source AI model, Meta AI offers a range of prompt options by default, such as “Help set fitness goals,” “Solo travel benefits,” “Home maintenance 101,” and more. You can also type in your own prompts through the text box at the bottom, and even use emojis to communicate with the chatbot.

Unlike ChatGPT, Meta AI can generate AI images in less than a minute, though these are limited to a small resolution and labeled as AI-made. These images can be easily downloaded and shared like any other WhatsApp media. Additionally, Meta AI can be used in group chats.

On WhatsApp Desktop, Meta AI is referred to as “AI Character,” but it’s essentially the same thing under a different name. The chat is synced across all your devices, so you should see the same messages on your phone and desktop.
