The Pakistan Air Force has earned its place among the world’s top air forces, ranking 7th globally in a recent Global Fire Power report. The United States remains the leader, with an unmatched air force, followed by Russia and China in second and third positions.
The report evaluated air forces based on their aircraft fleets, including fighter jets, helicopters, and support planes. The US holds the top spot with a PwrIndx score of 0.0744, boasting a massive fleet of 5,737 helicopters, 1,854 fighter jets, and 3,722 support aircraft, supported by a defense budget of $800 billion, making up nearly 40% of global military spending.

Russia, in second place, has only a third of the US’s air power, with 1,554 helicopters, 809 fighter jets, and 610 support aircraft. The country has also lost 220 aircraft since the start of the Ukraine conflict in 2022. Meanwhile, China, ranked third, is rapidly modernizing its air force by incorporating sixth-generation fighter jets and advancing supersonic aircraft technology.
Pakistan, with a fleet of 1,434 aircraft, has secured its 7th spot, showcasing its robust aerial capabilities. Other nations such as India, South Korea, and Japan follow in the rankings with 2,296, 1,576, and 1,459 aircraft respectively. The report underscores the evolving dynamics of global air power, highlighting China’s technological progress and Russia’s struggles to maintain its fleet due to ongoing military conflicts.
