Muslim Leaders Respond to the Desecration of the Holy Quran in the West

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey, claimed in his speech that racism, particularly Islamophobia, was “a plague” in Western countries.

He addressed the UN General Assembly that “it has reached intolerable levels.”

He remarked, “Unfortunately, populist politicians continue to play with fire by supporting such risky practices in many countries.

By allowing them under the pretense of free speech, the mentality that fosters the heinous attacks against the Holy Quran in Europe effectively casts doubt on (Europe’s) own future.

Outrage among Muslims has been caused by protests in Sweden that includes savaging the Muslim holy book.

While speaking from the UN podium, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi held up a copy of the holy book.

“Islamophobia and cultural apartheid witnessed in Western countries—evident in actions ranging from the desecration of the Holy Quran to the ban on the hijab in schools—as well as numerous other deplorable discriminations are not worthy of human dignity,” Raisi stated. He was making a provocative reference to France, which forbade Muslim girls from wearing hijabs to school.

Additionally, the emir of Qatar stated in his speech that “deliberately compromising the sanctity of others” should not be viewed as exercising one’s right to free speech.

“I would say to my Muslim brethren that it is implausible for us to get distracted by an idiot whenever it occurs to him to provoke us by burning the Holy Quran or by other forms of triviality,” remarked Sheikh Tamim.
