UN Chief Denounces Israeli Airstrike on Gaza Humanitarian Zone

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned an Israeli airstrike on the Al-Mawasi area in Khan Younis, Gaza Strip, designated as a “humanitarian zone” for displaced Palestinians.

Guterres expressed being “shocked and saddened” by the strike, which killed 90 people in the densely populated area. He emphasized that the attack highlights that “nowhere is safe in Gaza” and condemned the killing of civilians, including children and women.

The UN Secretary-General reiterated the necessity of adhering to international humanitarian law and called for an immediate cease-fire and the release of hostages in Gaza. The attack injured at least 300 people, with Israel facing international condemnation for its continued offensive on Gaza.
