On Friday, a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) visited the office of Sharjeel Memon, the Sindh Minister, to discuss the ongoing BRT Red Line project. The minister formally welcomed the distinguished visitors and briefed them on the project’s progress.
During the meeting, Sharjeel Memon stated that the Sindh government is making all possible efforts to transform the BRT Red Line into a model public-sector project. He provided the delegation with detailed updates on the current construction phases, technical specifications, and progress achieved so far.
The minister emphasized that the Sindh government is working tirelessly to ensure the project is completed promptly. Offices dedicated to the BRT Red Line operate 24 hours a day, enabling continuous monitoring and immediate resolution of any issues affecting the project’s progress.
Addressing the challenges of working in a large and complex metropolitan city like Karachi, Sharjeel Memon noted that relocating utilities for the BRT Red Line was a significant obstacle. He added that most technical difficulties have now been resolved, while remaining concerns are being handled through a coordinated strategy involving multiple departments.
The ADB delegation expressed satisfaction with the speed of construction and the administrative measures taken by the Sindh government. They acknowledged that the ongoing efforts are helping move the mega project forward efficiently and effectively.
Sharjeel Memon highlighted the practical decisions implemented to overcome construction challenges and ensure uninterrupted progress. He reiterated that the government is committed to completing the BRT Red Line on schedule while maintaining high-quality standards.
The meeting concluded with the ADB delegation appreciating the transparency, coordination, and dedication demonstrated by Sharjeel Memon and his team, emphasizing that the project is progressing well and could serve as a model for future public-sector infrastructure initiatives.
