In a recent development, the Adiala superintendent has denied claims that PTI founder Imran Khan’s X account is being operated from inside Adiala Jail. The clarification was submitted in a report to the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The superintendent stated that Imran Khan is under strict surveillance and has no access to any device capable of connecting to the internet. He confirmed that both the PTI founder and the staff assigned to him are regularly searched. No prohibited items, including mobile phones, have ever been recovered.
According to the Adiala superintendent, jail rules strictly prohibit inmates from using mobile phones or internet-enabled devices. Mobile signal jammers installed within the facility also block signals in surrounding areas, making it impossible to operate any online account from inside the prison.
The superintendent clarified that all activity on Imran Khan’s X account is conducted from outside the jail by individuals not associated with Adiala Jail. He emphasized that the former prime minister is only provided facilities allowed under jail regulations or authorized through court orders.
This clarification comes as the IHC hears a petition seeking the removal of allegedly unlawful or provocative posts from Imran Khan’s X account. The petitioner argued that such activity could incite public unrest and threaten public order.
Earlier, PTI leader Raoof Hasan had claimed that the official X account of Imran Khan was being operated from the United States, where the party’s social media team is based. The court is examining the petition to determine whether any restrictions should be placed on the account’s operation.
The statements from the Adiala superintendent aim to assure the court and public that the PTI founder’s social media activity is not originating from within the prison. Authorities continue to enforce strict rules to ensure security and compliance inside the facility.
