Huawei launches its latest Mate 80 series in China, featuring the high-end Mate 80 Pro Max. The phone boasts a dual-layer OLED display with a peak brightness of 8,000 nits, one of the brightest on the market. The series also introduces the upgraded Mate X7 foldable with enhanced dust and water protection.
The Mate 80 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch flat OLED screen designed for outdoor use. By comparison, competitors like Realme GT 8 Pro peak at 7,000 nits and Google Pixel 10 Pro reaches 3,300 nits. Huawei highlights the panel’s high contrast and improved image clarity, making it ideal for bright conditions.
All Mate 80 models feature squared-off sides and flat displays, following current smartphone design trends. The rear showcases a circular pattern around the wireless charging coil, aligned with the round camera module to form a subtle “eight” motif.
Huawei launches the Mate 80 series powered by its own Kirin chips. RAM goes up to 20GB in the Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design, a special variant of the Pro Max. The Pro Max includes a 6,000mAh battery and dual periscope camera lenses with support for a detachable telephoto extender, focusing on photography enthusiasts.
The Mate X7 foldable receives major upgrades, including IP58 and IP59 dust and water protection. It now has a larger 5,600mAh battery, bigger displays, and improved chipset and camera system. These updates position it as a strong competitor in the foldable smartphone market.
Beyond smartphones, Huawei launches new smartwatches, tablets, laptops, earbuds, TVs, and routers. Currently, these products are exclusive to China, though limited international availability may follow in the coming months.
With the Mate 80 series and Mate X7, Huawei continues to expand its premium device lineup, emphasizing display innovation, photography, and durability in the highly competitive smartphone market.
