Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Aleema Khanum visited the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to seek a meeting with the PTI founder and the Chief Justice. However, their request was met with denial from the Chief Justiceโs office.
Speaking to reporters at the IHC, Sohail Afridi said, โWe were not heard. A message was conveyed from the Chief Justice stating that he cannot meet us.โ This official denial prevented the delegation from discussing their concerns with the court.
Following the denial, CM Afridi announced that National Assembly and Senate sessions will not proceed today as a mark of protest. He also revealed plans for supporters to gather outside the IHC and Adiala Jail next Tuesday to express their grievances peacefully.
The KP Chief Minister said the sit-in outside Adiala Jail has concluded but warned that the events of today โwill be remembered and never forgotten.โ He emphasized that a peaceful demonstration will take place outside the Islamabad High Court, with parliamentarians and the public participating to show solidarity.
The delegation had approached the court to discuss sensitive matters regarding the PTI founder. The denial of the meeting has fueled political tensions and prompted immediate calls for peaceful protests.
Officials confirmed that security measures will be heightened during the planned gathering next Tuesday to ensure the protest remains orderly. Law enforcement agencies are coordinating with local authorities to facilitate smooth movement for demonstrators.
Sohail Afridi stressed the importance of democratic participation and urged citizens to join the demonstration in a peaceful manner. He also expressed hope that future dialogues with the judiciary would be possible despite todayโs setback.
The denial at the IHC marks a significant moment in the ongoing political developments surrounding the PTI founder, highlighting tensions between political leaders and judicial authorities in Islamabad.
