KURRAM โ Security forces successfully thwarted an attack by Kharij militants on the Chanark police check post in Central Kurram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The exchange of fire resulted in the deaths of four terrorists and injuries to six others. Unfortunately, two brave police personnel lost their lives during the confrontation.
According to the District Police Officer (DPO) of Kurram, militants targeted the Chanark police station check post and set it on fire. The ensuing firefight continued for several hours as police defended the area against the attackers.
Reinforcements were immediately dispatched to Kurram, where additional officers joined the ongoing operation. The DPO confirmed that police fought courageously for three consecutive hours, successfully neutralizing the threat and preventing further damage.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi lauded the police for their professional and timely action. He specifically praised the officersโ bravery, stating that their efforts foiled the militantsโ dangerous plans. The minister also honored the two martyrs, expressing deep condolences to their families for their sacrifice in protecting the community.
Local residents praised the policeโs swift response and acknowledged their courage in the face of danger. Security officials have increased vigilance in Kurram to prevent any future militant attacks. The area remains under heightened surveillance as investigations continue.
