The Sindh government has announced that Rangers’ deployment will continue to assist local police under powers granted by the Anti-Terrorism Act. The new tenure will become effective from December 9, 2025.
A spokesperson for the Chief Minister of Sindh confirmed that the federal force will maintain its role in supporting law enforcement and ensuring public safety across the province. This decision follows a review of security requirements and ongoing operations in key areas.
During a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, officials discussed multiple development and security initiatives. Among the key decisions, the Sindh Cabinet approved the continuation of Rangers’ deployment to strengthen policing efforts and maintain law and order.
The cabinet also approved a revision of water tariffs for the DHA pipeline project. The rate for DHA was reduced from Rs0.85 to Rs0.60 per gallon, while the payment period remained at ten years. Officials said the adjustment ensures the project remains financially sustainable and affordable for residents.
In addition, the Sindh Cabinet approved a carbon finance strategy for redeveloping brownfield sites. The Energy Department proposed establishing solar parks and wind farms in outdated industrial zones to promote renewable energy.
The government also decided to upgrade various waste management sites and develop the Jam Chakro location into a modern landfill. The Chief Minister emphasized that all landfill and biogas projects must be designed and executed according to scientific principles to ensure environmental sustainability.
Officials highlighted that Rangers’ deployment remains a crucial part of Sindh’s broader security framework. The extension aims to maintain stability while supporting ongoing developmental initiatives across the province.
