The final Supermoon of 2025 will grace the skies over Pakistan on December 4 and 5, offering a spectacular sight for skywatchers. Observers are encouraged to visit popular viewing points to witness this celestial event.
According to the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco), the Supermoon will appear up to 7.9% larger and nearly 15% brighter than a typical full Moon. On December 5, the Moon will be at a distance of 357,218 kilometers from Earth and will reach 99.8% brightness at 4:15 am.
On December 4, the Supermoon will already shine brightly, reaching 99.2% brightness in the evening. This makes both nights ideal for photographers and astronomy enthusiasts to capture the Moon at its most radiant.
The phenomenon occurs when the Moon approaches its closest point to Earth in its orbit, also known as perigee. Skywatchers often notice that a Supermoon rising near the horizon can appear even larger due to an optical illusion, adding to its visual impact.
This will be the third and final Supermoon of 2025. Earlier in November, another supermoon lit up the night sky on November 5. While another supermoon is expected in early January 2026, it will not be considered part of the 2025 cycle.
The event is not limited to Pakistan; it will be visible across the globe, giving observers worldwide a chance to enjoy the Moon in its brightest and largest form of the year.
Astronomers encourage people to enjoy the spectacle safely, preferably away from bright city lights, to fully appreciate the lunar brilliance. Both casual viewers and photography enthusiasts are likely to find the last Supermoon of 2025 a memorable experience.
