Pakistan reiterates its demand that the Palestinian people be allowed to exercise their right to self-determination and establish an independent state. The statement was made at the UN General Assembly Debate on the Question of Palestine.
Pakistanโs Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, emphasized that the occupation of Palestinian territories must end immediately. He underlined that all efforts should focus on ending bloodshed, protecting civilians, preventing displacement, and rebuilding Gaza.
He added that Pakistan reiterates its support for a comprehensive peace in Palestine based on international law. The representative stressed that a ceasefire must be fully implemented, with no unilateral military actions, and that Israeli forces must withdraw from Gaza. Reconstruction of the region should begin without delay.
The remarks come ahead of an international conference on Gazaโs recovery and reconstruction. Egyptโs Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, welcomed Pakistanโs expertise and resources to aid in Gazaโs rehabilitation.
At a joint press conference with Pakistanโs Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Dr. Abdelatty expressed hope that Pakistan would actively participate in the upcoming efforts for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza.
Senator Ishaq Dar highlighted that both countries are closely monitoring regional developments, with a particular focus on the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza. He reiterated Pakistanโs commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at protecting civilians and restoring stability in the region.
Pakistan reiterates its stance that lasting peace in the Middle East requires adherence to international law, protection of human rights, and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The country continues to advocate for diplomatic solutions that address both humanitarian and political concerns in Gaza.
