YouTube launches a new, personalized end-of-year recap feature for its main platform, following the trend of annual wrap-up experiences. The feature highlights users’ most-watched content and viewing habits over the year.
The YouTube Recap includes 12 customized cards showing top channels, favorite topics, and a personality type based on watching preferences. For instance, “Skill Builder” users focus on educational content, “Sunshiners” enjoy positive videos, and “Trailblazers” explore unique and boundary-pushing content. Other types include “Wonder Seeker,” “Connector,” and “Dreamer,” each reflecting diverse user interests.
Users can see their most-watched artists and songs, while deeper insights are available in the YouTube Music Recap, which launched last week. This year, the feature also highlights trends such as top creators, podcasts, and songs. MrBeast ranked as the top creator for the sixth consecutive year, “The Joe Rogan Experience” led in podcasts, and Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s “Die with a Smile” topped the music charts.
YouTube launches the Recap initially in North America, with a global rollout planned for later this week. Users can access their personalized recap on both mobile and desktop via the YouTube homepage or the “You” tab.
The platform said the feature was created after extensive user feedback, with over 50 concept tests conducted to refine the experience. YouTube launches this update alongside trend charts to help users see broader content patterns across the platform.
This move mirrors similar end-of-year initiatives by other streaming services. Apple Music launched Replay, and Amazon Music introduced 2025 Delivered. Spotify has yet to release its anticipated Wrapped, putting YouTube ahead in year-end engagement experiences.
By launching this Recap, YouTube offers users a unique, personalized way to reflect on their content consumption while promoting top creators and trends, strengthening engagement as the year comes to a close.
