A lady doctor mysteriously disappeared from Benazir Bhutto Shaheed DHQ Teaching Hospital, prompting widespread concern and protests by medical staff. Doctors and hospital employees suspended services and closed the OPD, demanding immediate action to locate the missing doctor.
Dr. Wardah Mushtaq, a Medical Officer at the hospital, was last seen two days ago leaving the hospital with a close female friend. Contact was lost shortly afterward, and the hospital administration confirmed that the doctor had not returned. Police later verified that Dr. Wardah had departed with her friend, raising fears of a possible abduction.
Mirpur Police have taken Dr. Wardah’s friend into custody for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are also interrogating the friend’s husband and their driver to gather information regarding the incident.
The Doctors Association announced a shutdown of all hospital services until Dr. Wardah is safely recovered. Hospital staff expressed shock and demanded urgent government intervention to ensure her safe return.
Dr. Wardah’s father, Mushtaq, filed an FIR at Cantt Police Station, stating that his daughter had gone with her friend, Arda, to retrieve 67 tolas of gold kept in trust. He alleged that Dr. Wardah did not return afterward, prompting fears of foul play.
Police confirmed that they recovered the vehicle allegedly used in the suspected abduction from outside Dr. Wardah’s home. The vehicle is now in police custody, and the investigation continues under the supervision of the SHO.
Authorities are exploring all possible angles, but it remains unclear whether the disappearance involves kidnapping or another motive. The Young Doctors Association (YDA-KPK) condemned the incident, calling it unacceptable and expressing deep concern for safety within the medical community.
In a statement, YDA urged district authorities and police to ensure the lady doctor mysteriously missing is located immediately and safely. They also demanded that anyone responsible be brought to justice, highlighting the urgency and seriousness of the case.
