Arshad Nadeem Claims National Games Gold with 81.81m Javelin Throw

Olympian javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem delivered a standout performance at the 35th National Games, winning the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw with an impressive 81.81-metre effort. The event took place at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, where top athletes from across Pakistan are competing.

Representing WAPDA, Arshad dominated the field, while his teammate Yasir Sultan secured the silver medal with a best throw of 70.77 metres. Pakistan Army’s Abrar Ali claimed bronze after recording a 67.68-metre throw.

Arshad, celebrated as Pakistan’s leading javelin star and an Olympic gold medallist, has been a major attraction at the National Games. His presence and strong performance have boosted the morale of young athletes, especially emerging javelin throwers hoping to follow in his footsteps.

Just two days earlier, Arshad spoke to the media during the opening ceremony and expressed confidence that the National Games would help Pakistan discover new sporting talent. He said he believed the event served as an ideal platform for young athletes to showcase their abilities and move closer to international opportunities.

“National Games will bring out new talent for Pakistan,” he stated, adding that standout performers could soon represent the country on the global stage. “I am sure talented athletes will emerge from every event this time.”

Arshad also revealed that top-performing athletes would be invited to a national training camp, where they could prepare for a busy international calendar ahead. Pakistan is expected to participate in several events next year, offering rising athletes a chance to shine.

He further shared that he had battled injuries earlier in the year but had now fully recovered. With renewed fitness, Arshad said he was targeting even bigger achievements, including record-breaking throws at major global events such as the Diamond League, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Games.
