Peshawar and Mansehra police have launched a new initiative to register online bike riders to improve public safety and curb crime. The program uses the Safe Ride app, allowing riders to register their details digitally. Those unable to use the app can complete registration manually at their nearest police station.
Once registered, online bike riders will receive a QR code sticker to place on their motorcycles. The QR code will link the motorcycle to the Peshawar Policeโs central database, making it easier to track vehicles involved in criminal activity.
According to CCPO Mian Saeed, the move comes after several incidents where motorcycle riders were involved in snatching and robbery attempts across the city. Police have already arrested 10 suspects linked to these crimes. The initiative aims to protect citizens and safeguard ridersโ livelihoods.
Acting on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Mansehra Muhammad Azhar Khan, police have also launched a district-wide registration drive in Mansehra. Authorities emphasized that hardworking riders earning a lawful livelihood will be supported, but no individual will be allowed to misuse ride-hailing services for illegal activities.
Each registered rider will receive a special registration number, and their credentials will be documented at the respective police station. Police officials urge citizens to encourage riders in their areas to complete the mandatory registration process.
This registration initiative is part of a broader effort to maintain law and order and give law enforcement better tools to identify and track offenders. By integrating online bike riders into the system, authorities hope to deter criminal activity while ensuring legitimate riders can continue their work safely.
The program reflects the policeโs commitment to public safety and support for responsible motorcycle riders. Officials believe this step will reduce crime rates and foster a safer environment for citizens and riders alike.
