Islamabad Welcomes Rs. 1.4 Billion Flyover to Ease Traffic

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has inaugurated the T-Chowk Flyover and the Islamabad Expressway Signal-Free Corridor, a major development aimed at addressing long-standing traffic issues in the capital. The project was completed in a record 77 days, with a total cost of Rs. 1.4 billion, marking a significant achievement in Islamabad and Rawalpindi’s infrastructure development.

The new flyover and signal-free corridor are expected to significantly ease daily traffic congestion, particularly for commuters traveling from GT Road into Islamabad. By eliminating traffic signals along this route, travel times are likely to be reduced, making journeys smoother and faster. Officials also expect that the improvement will help lower fuel consumption and reduce commuting stress for thousands of daily road users.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) team were praised for their strong coordination and efficient execution of the project. Completing such a large-scale initiative ahead of schedule highlights improved planning, effective management, and successful on-ground execution.

The flyover is part of a broader effort to enhance urban mobility in the twin cities. Better road connectivity is expected to save time, support economic activity, and provide safer and more comfortable travel for the public. Authorities say the development will benefit daily commuters, commercial transport, and long-distance travelers alike.

The project is seen as a key milestone in Islamabad’s infrastructure growth. With modern design and careful planning, the flyover is expected to handle large volumes of traffic efficiently. Residents have welcomed the initiative, noting that it will reduce traffic bottlenecks and improve overall city travel experience.
