Punjab Govt Said to Remove Weekly Holiday for School Administrative Staff

The Punjab School Education Department has reportedly changed its weekly working schedule. Under the new plan, Saturday holidays for school administrative officers have been ended. Offices will now remain open on both Saturday and Sunday.

According to reports, the decision was approved by the Punjab Govt to improve administrative efficiency. All attached institutions have been directed to follow the new instructions immediately. No delays in implementation have been allowed.

The new policy applies to several subordinate bodies working under the department. These include the Directorate of Public Instructions, known as DPI. It also includes the Punjab Education Monitoring Authority, or PEMA. Other affected bodies are PECTA and the Children’s Library Complex.

Each institution has been instructed to revise its weekly schedule. Staff members must now be available throughout the weekend. Officials say this step will improve coordination among departments.

Sources claim the Punjab Govt believes weekend closures were slowing down important work. Files, approvals, and internal communication often faced delays. The new schedule is expected to reduce these issues.

By keeping offices open seven days a week, the department hopes to speed up decision-making. Faster communication between different units is also expected. Officials say ongoing projects will now move forward without interruption.

The department has also issued clear instructions to leadership. Heads of 10 attached organizations must ensure full compliance. They are personally responsible for implementing the new working plan.

These heads must also brief the Secretary of Schools regularly. Reports will cover staff arrangements and overall performance. Monitoring will continue during the initial phase of implementation.

Authorities say the revised timetable reflects broader administrative goals. The Punjab Govt aims to strengthen governance within the education sector. Improving service delivery remains a key focus.

Officials believe continuous office operations will help solve problems faster. Tasks delayed by weekend closures can now proceed smoothly. This may also reduce pressure during weekdays.

The department says the move supports better educational management across Punjab. Stronger coordination will help schools receive timely support. Administrative issues may also be resolved more quickly.
