Murree police have issued a safety advisory for tourists visiting the hill station to enjoy the season’s first snowfall. Authorities aim to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer Sipra, said that while tourists have the right to enjoy Murree’s natural beauty, their safety and smooth travel remain the top priority. Police have been placed on high alert to manage traffic and prevent accidents during the snowy conditions.
Dr. Sipra stated that he is personally overseeing all arrangements and has instructed police personnel to treat tourists with courtesy and cooperation. He highlighted that Murree is witnessing a high influx of visitors even after the holidays, requiring strict traffic management measures.
The DPO warned that roads become slippery during snowfall and urged tourists to use snow chains on vehicle tyres and avoid unnecessary overtaking. He also stressed that parking vehicles on roadsides for photography can disrupt traffic and advised visitors to use designated parking areas only.
Tourists were reminded to check their vehicles’ mechanical condition before travelling to Murree. This includes ensuring heaters, wipers, and lights are working properly, and that fuel levels are sufficient for the journey.
Dr. Sipra also advised travellers to take special care of children and elderly passengers. He suggested keeping vehicle windows slightly open to prevent oxygen deficiency and emphasized contacting the police helpline at 15 or the nearest police check post in case of emergencies, accidents, or suspicious activity.
