MUZAFFARABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif distributed laptops to students at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Wednesday. The event aims to support education and empower the youth in the region.
Addressing the ceremony, PM Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the freedom of Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He praised the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and emphasized Pakistan’s support for their right to self-determination.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the laptops are provided purely on merit. He said these devices are not just machines, but a tool to help students continue education and secure livelihoods, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
PM Sharif also spoke about the Pakistan Endowment Fund, which provides scholarships to students from AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other regions. The fund supports education both at home and abroad, ensuring young people have access to quality learning opportunities.
He further announced the establishment of four state-of-the-art Daanish schools in Azad Kashmir and the upcoming Daanish University in AJK. These initiatives are designed to promote high-quality education and equip students with the skills needed for future success.
The Prime Minister stressed that empowering youth through education is a top priority. He said providing laptops to students is part of Pakistan’s broader vision to enable young people to achieve academic excellence and contribute to national development.
Officials and students at the ceremony expressed gratitude for the government’s initiatives. The distribution of laptops is expected to improve access to digital education and provide students with modern tools for learning.
