Veteran actor Behroze Sabzwari shared his thoughts on the decline of Pakistan Television (PTV) during the 18th Aalmi Urdu Conference at the Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP).
According to Behroze Sabzwari, bureaucracy is the main reason behind the channel’s downfall. He expressed deep sadness over the current state of PTV, recalling his visits to the Karachi studio. “Whenever I enter PTV Karachi Studio, I cry with tears on seeing the disaster,” he said.
The actor reflected on the past, describing the Karachi studio as once full of energy and chaos. “The allies of the studio used to be chaotic and full of noise, but now only silence prevails,” Behroze Sabzwari added, highlighting how the vibrancy of PTV has diminished over the years.
Despite the decline, Behroze Sabzwari praised the infrastructure of PTV, stating that it remains unmatched compared to private channels in Karachi. He pointed out that many leading private channels owe their success to talented professionals who originally worked at PTV.
“The speciality of PTV channel is that the leading broadcasting channels that emerged later only became successful because of the talented people from PTV channel and were able to establish those channels,” he said.
Behroze Sabzwari’s comments come at a time when discussions about the quality and management of national broadcasting are gaining attention. Industry experts have noted that while private channels have thrived, PTV has struggled to maintain its past standards due to bureaucratic hurdles and outdated management practices.
