Riphah International University, OIC-Linked Global Science Foundation Move to Launch Joint Academic and Industry Programs

Islamabad: Riphah International University has initiated a strategic partnership with the Mustafa Science and Technology Foundation (MSTF), an internationally renowned, OIC-linked science organization, to develop joint programs in research, innovation, higher education, and industry collaboration, significantly strengthening Pakistan’s engagement with global science and technology networks.
The development emerged during a high-level academic and strategic dialogue held at Riphah’s Gulberg Greens Campus, Islamabad. The visiting delegation was led by Dr. Mahdi Amini, Director International Cooperation at MSTF, whose visit was facilitated through COMSTECH Pakistan, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) key platform for scientific and technological cooperation among member states.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to work towards a structured, long-term framework for international collaboration focused on applied research, academic exchange, youth development, faculty mobility, and stronger university-industry linkages. Priority areas identified include student and faculty exchange programs, joint research initiatives, young scientist fellowships, international science competitions, specialized summer schools in emerging fields, innovation challenges, science festivals, international conferences, and the establishment of joint centres of excellence.
MSTF is globally recognized for promoting scientific excellence and innovation across the Muslim world through research support and cross-border collaboration. Its flagship initiative, the Mustafa Prize, is among the world’s most prestigious science awards, carrying a prize of USD 500,000 and honoring outstanding scientists from Muslim countries for excellence in science and technology.
The Foundation also maintains close institutional ties with Pardis Technology Park, Iran’s largest science and technology park, which hosts an extensive ecosystem of technology-based companies, startups, and research centers. Notably, MSTF and Pardis Technology Park share leadership, ensuring strong alignment between science policy and industrial innovation.
The dialogue was hosted by the Chancellor of Riphah International University, alongside the Vice Chancellor, the Executive Director of the Islamic International Medical College Trust (IIMCT), and senior university leadership, including Deans and Directors from various faculties.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both institutions agreed to establish a joint working group to advance priority initiatives, align upcoming program submissions ahead of MSTF’s February deadline, and ensure legal and regulatory compliance for cross-border academic and industrial collaboration.
The engagement highlights Riphah International University’s expanding role in international academic diplomacy and reflects Pakistan’s growing visibility, research capacity, and innovation potential within global science and technology platforms.
