ISLAMABAD – The court has set January 16 as the date to frame charges in the high-profile Gambling Promotion Case against YouTuber Saad-ur-Rahman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, his wife Aroob Jatoi, and other accused. Copies of the police challan were provided to the defendants during the hearing conducted by Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo.
During the proceedings, the magistrate clarified that vlogging on the YouTube channel linked to the case without explicit court permission is illegal. Ducky Bhai responded that he believed an earlier affidavit granted him permission, but the court emphasized that only the judiciary can authorize content uploads. The magistrate further explained that while vlogging is permitted, uploading videos on the seized channel remains illegal.
The Gambling Promotion Case stems from allegations that Ducky Bhai and associates used their social media platforms to promote online gambling, specifically betting apps, in violation of Pakistan’s Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016. The National Coordination Centre for Internet and Cybercrime Affairs (NCCIA) had presented the challan, highlighting that the accused targeted a wide online audience to market gambling content.
Authorities also froze the YouTube channel to prevent further uploads while the investigation continues. Aroob Jatoi has been named in the case for her alleged role in managing the channel and facilitating the promotion of gambling-related content, underscoring that family members involved in digital content operations may also face legal accountability.
In previous hearings, Ducky Bhai appeared alongside his wife and other accused. The court reiterated that uploading videos on a seized channel without court permission constitutes a procedural violation. Legal representatives confirmed that no content is currently being uploaded on the channel, though the court’s scrutiny remains strict.
