Over a million Pakistanis travel to the  Karbala for Ashura

BAGHDAD (Reuters) – Over a million Muslims have traveled from Pakistan to the holy city of Karbala in Iraq to take part in the Ashura processions.
The massive influx of mourners in Iraq from Pakistan and other areas of the world coincides with Ashura, the commemoration of Hazrat Imam Hussain’s martyrdom in the Battle of Karbala, which occurred in 680 AD on the 10th day of Muharram.
According to Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Middle East, Ahmed Amjad Ali, a special camp office has been established at Karbala to assist Pakistani pilgrims.

Doctors and paramedics are accessible in the camp office, according to Ali, and sabeels are available for pilgrims. He also stated that passports and paperwork can be validated at the camp office.
The Karbala Camp Office, according to the ambassador, was established on the particular orders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to give services to Pakistani pilgrims. Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims descended on Baghdad to commemorate the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad SAW’s grandson.
Mourners go to Karbala every year, staying in improvised camps along the road, since the grandson of Prophet Muhammad SAW and his family were outnumbered and murdered following a brief struggle against the armies of Umayyad Caliph Yazid I.
