LAKKI MARWAT – A joint intelligence-based operation by CTD Bannu Region and Lakki Marwat Police led to the killing of three terrorists, officials said on Monday. The operation targeted militants involved in multiple terrorist activities in the district.
The police said the operation was carried out in the Pardal Begokhel area of Sarai Naurang tehsil, following actionable intelligence. Security forces engaged the suspects, resulting in the elimination of three high-profile terrorists.
One of the militants was identified as Nazir, described as a highly dangerous operative. The other two were named Fawad alias Muaz and Afnan Khan Afnani, both wanted in several terrorism-related cases.
Authorities confirmed that the three were involved in attacks on law enforcement personnel in the region. They had reportedly targeted traffic police officers, making them high-priority targets for security agencies.
During the encounter, weapons were recovered from the slain terrorists. Police also seized three cards linked to a banned organization, further establishing their connections to militant networks.
A police spokesperson said the successful operation demonstrates effective coordination between CTD Bannu Region and Lakki Marwat Police. Law enforcement reiterated their commitment to eliminating terrorism from the district and promised continued intelligence-based operations to ensure public safety.
The operation comes after a tragic attack on law enforcement in Lakki Marwat and Bannu on Sunday. Unidentified gunmen killed four police officers, including three traffic police personnel in Lakki Marwat near Sarai Naurang. The victims were Naurang Traffic Police In-charge Jalal Khan, Police Constable Azizullah, and Police Constable Abdullah.
Authorities immediately cordoned off the area and shifted the martyred officers to Naurang Hospital. Manhunts have been launched to apprehend the attackers and prevent further incidents.
Officials emphasized that operations like the recent one in Lakki Marwat are part of a broader strategy to maintain law and order in the district. Security forces continue to actively pursue terrorists and dismantle outlawed militant networks in the region.
With ongoing coordination between intelligence agencies and local police, authorities remain vigilant to protect residents and ensure peace in Lakki Marwat and surrounding areas.
