Sindh Minister Ghani Welcomes KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in Karachi

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi arrived in Karachi on Friday to begin a three-day political visit. The visit aims to mobilise support for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s ongoing street movement.

Sindh Labour Minister Saeed Ghani welcomes the KP chief minister at Jinnah International Airport. Both leaders exchanged greetings upon arrival. The reception was calm and formal. Afridi was also presented with a traditional Sindhi cap and Ajrak, reflecting local customs and hospitality.

The arrival drew attention from party workers and supporters. Several people gathered at the airport to catch a glimpse of the chief minister. Members of the provincial cabinet accompanied Afridi. Lawmakers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s National and Provincial Assemblies also travelled with him.

Saeed Ghani welcomes the visiting leader as part of official protocol. The meeting remained brief but symbolic. It highlighted ongoing political engagement between the two provinces.

During his stay in Karachi, Afridi is scheduled to hold several meetings. He will meet senior PTI leaders from Sindh. Discussions with lawyers and business organisations are also planned. Meetings with media representatives are included in the schedule.

Afridi is also expected to meet Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The meeting may focus on political and administrative matters. However, no official agenda has been shared publicly.

Speaking to reporters at the airport, Afridi said Sindh party leadership had briefed him on the visit plan. He urged party workers to participate actively. He specifically mentioned a rally planned at Mazar-e-Quaid.

The chief minister announced a major public gathering on Sunday. The event will be held at Mazar-e-Quaid at 4:30pm. Afridi claimed it would be the largest rally Karachi has seen. He said the rally would deliver PTI founder Imran Khan’s message.

Afridi stated that the purpose of the visit is political mobilisation. He said strengthening the street movement remains a priority. He also stressed unity among party workers.

The Karachi visit follows Afridi’s recent trip to Lahore. During that visit, police blocked access to Liberty Chowk. He was prevented from addressing supporters there.

Later, Afridi addressed PTI lawmakers at the Punjab Assembly. Reports emerged of confrontations between his team and security officials. He was also barred from entering the cantonment area. Authorities also closed the city’s food street ahead of his arrival.
