Pakistan’s security forces reported that multiple Khwarij killed in recent intelligence-based operations in North Waziristan and Kurram districts. The operations targeted militants involved in terrorism and attacks on civilians and law enforcement agencies.
According to the ISPR, an operation on January 8, 2026, in North Waziristan was conducted after intelligence reports indicated the presence of khwarij in the area. Security troops engaged the militants, and after an intense exchange of fire, 6 Khwarij killed were confirmed. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site.
In a separate joint operation by police and security forces in Kurram district, 5 Khwarij killed were reported. Officials said these militants were involved in terrorist activities, including attacks on security forces and target killings of innocent civilians. The recovered arms indicate the militants were well-armed and actively plotting further attacks.
The ISPR confirmed that sanitisation operations are underway to eliminate any remaining khwarij in these regions. Authorities emphasized that these operations are part of Pakistan’s broader counterterrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
Earlier, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry highlighted the successes of Pakistan’s security forces in 2025. He stated that 75,175 intelligence-based operations were carried out nationwide, resulting in 2,597 terrorists being neutralised. He also noted that 1,235 security personnel lost their lives in terrorist attacks during the year.
The recent operations in North Waziristan and Kurram reflect Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to countering terrorism. Authorities reiterated that efforts will continue to target foreign-sponsored militants, ensuring national security and the protection of civilians. The elimination of these khwarij underscores the determination of security forces to maintain law and order across the country.
