Severe travel disruption has hit Pakistan as dense fog continues to affect railway operations in several cities. Lahore, Karachi, and other regions are facing delays, forcing Pakistan Railways to announce New Train Timings for multiple services. Passengers have been advised to check schedules before reaching stations.
According to railway officials, thick fog has reduced visibility and slowed train movement across major routes. As a result, several long-distance trains are running hours behind their original schedules. The updated New Train Timings aim to manage congestion and ensure safer operations during poor weather.
The Karakoram Express, which normally departs Lahore for Karachi at 3:00 PM, will now leave at 6:00 PM. This delay has caused long waits for passengers at Lahore Railway Station. Similarly, the Karachi Express, scheduled for a 6:00 PM departure, has been delayed until 12:45 AM.
Millat Express, traveling from Faisalabad to Karachi, will now depart at 12:00 AM instead of 5:50 PM. Passengers heading to Mianwali are also affected. The Mianwali Express will now leave at 11:45 PM, replacing its original 9:10 PM timing.
Railway authorities said these New Train Timings are temporary and depend on weather conditions. Officials warned that further changes are possible if fog continues to disrupt operations. Passengers have been urged to remain patient and follow official updates.
The fog situation has not only affected rail travel. Punjab experienced freezing temperatures on Sunday, causing widespread disruption. At Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, several international flights were delayed. One Pakistan International Airlines flight to Abu Dhabi was cancelled due to poor visibility.
Road travel has also been impacted. Authorities closed multiple motorway sections, including M2, M3, M4, M5, and M11. Visibility dropped sharply on national highways near Lahore, Pattoki, Okara, and Sahiwal. Traffic moved slowly as drivers struggled with foggy conditions.
Motorway Police advised commuters to avoid unnecessary travel, especially during night hours. They recommended planning journeys during daylight for better visibility and safety.
Railway officials stressed that safety remains the top priority. They encouraged passengers to confirm New Train Timings through official helplines or station announcements before traveling. As foggy conditions are expected to persist, more schedule adjustments may follow in the coming hours.
