In a continued crackdown against the parking mafia, authorities have arrested 12 more individuals in Saddar. These suspects were allegedly extorting citizens under the pretense of collecting parking fees.
The operation targeted the central Saddar area, including Regal Chowk, Abdullah Haroon Road, and nearby streets. Members of the parking mafia had been illegally charging motorists, causing frustration among local residents and visitors.
Assistant Commissioner Hazim Bangwar, who is leading the anti-encroachment and anti-parking mafia drive, personally visited Preedy Police Station. He directed police to register 12 additional cases and confirmed that all suspects were taken into custody.
The cases were filed based on complaints from the traffic police. Reports indicate that these arrests aim to stop illegal parking charges and harassment by parking mafia operatives.
So far, the ongoing operation has led to over 40 cases being registered. More than 30 people have been arrested in connection with illegal parking and unauthorised fee collection. The crackdown is part of a broader city effort to restore order in public spaces and ensure citizens are not exploited.
AC Bangwar warned that the authorities will not tolerate encroachments or unlawful parking in Saddar or elsewhere in the city. He urged those involved in illegal activities to stop immediately, emphasizing that further legal action will follow against violators.
Citizens have welcomed the move, noting that previous incidents with the parking mafia had caused inconvenience and extra costs. The operation highlights the city administrationโs commitment to tackling illegal extortion and maintaining public safety.
Authorities have assured that the crackdown will continue until the parking mafia is completely dismantled. Regular monitoring and strict enforcement are planned to prevent future illegal parking and harassment in Saddar.
