Bannu police successfully repelled a terrorist attack on the Kasho Pal police check post. The attackers fired from multiple directions, targeting the post.
Police responded promptly, engaging the terrorists and forcing them to flee. No casualties were reported among the officers during the exchange of fire.
District Police Officer Yasir Afridi confirmed that heavy casualties were inflicted on the terrorists. He emphasized that police personnel remain fully prepared to confront terrorist threats at all times.
โThe terrorists will be hunted down one by one. They will not be allowed to hide,โ said DPO Afridi. He reaffirmed the policeโs commitment to maintaining law and order in Bannu.
The attack comes days after security forces killed 22 militants in the district. On November 25, an intelligence-based operation targeted India-sponsored militants linked to the Fitna al Khwarij group.
According to the ISPR, security forces engaged the militants in Bannu and eliminated all 22 during a fierce exchange of fire. A sanitization operation is ongoing to remove any remaining militants in the area.
Officials noted that the recent terrorist attack highlights the persistent threat of militant activity in the region. Authorities are increasing surveillance and patrols to prevent future attacks.
Residents praised the swift response of law enforcement. They said prompt police action prevented greater casualties and secured the area quickly.
Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity. They stressed that any support to terrorist networks would not be tolerated.
The security forces continue to operate across Bannu to ensure public safety and neutralize any threat of a terrorist attack. Authorities remain alert to protect the district from future militant actions.
