Karachi Court Postpones Rajab Butt Case Hearing Until February 10

A Karachi court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing in a blasphemy case against Rajab Butt until February 10. The development was reported by a local television channel. The court accepted a request to delay proceedings and fixed a new date.

The accused did not appear before the court during the hearing. His lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq, was unavailable as he had gone for Umrah. The defense submitted a formal request seeking exemption from personal appearance. The court approved the request without objection.

Rajab Butt is currently out on interim bail in the case. The court had earlier granted him relief while the legal process continues. Officials confirmed that the case remains under review.

The blasphemy case was registered at the Hyderi Market police station. Police officials said the matter is being handled according to law. No new charges were announced during the hearing.

Last month, an incident involving Rajab Butt took place at the Karachi City Courts. Reports stated that a lawyer allegedly assaulted him during a court appearance. The incident drew public attention and raised security concerns.

Authorities confirmed that an investigation into the assault is ongoing. Police have recorded statements from eyewitnesses. CCTV footage from the court premises is also being reviewed.

An FIR was registered by Barrister Mian regarding the incident. The complaint described the act as a violent and planned physical assault. It claimed the attack was linked to unwanted attention from individuals seeking publicity.

The influencer has faced several legal challenges in recent years. In September 2025, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency booked him. The case involved allegations of promoting online gambling applications on social media platforms.

Another content creator, Nadeem, faced similar charges. He was arrested the same month. Authorities accused him of using a fake registration number on his vehicle.

Earlier, in March 2025, a case was registered against Rajab Butt under blasphemy and cybercrime laws. The case followed controversy surrounding the launch of his perfume brand. Officials claimed the branding caused religious concerns.

In December 2024, he was arrested for keeping a lion cub illegally. Authorities also recovered weapons from his residence. In January 2025, he pleaded guilty to owning an undocumented wild animal.
