Lahore Offers Free Rickshaw Rides for Residents During Basant

Lahore will offer free transport services during the Basant festival this year. The move aims to help citizens travel safely and easily across the city. Authorities want to reduce traffic pressure and support public celebrations.

According to local media reports, Rickshaw Rides will be free for Lahorites during Basant. Public transport services will also operate without charges. The decision was shared on Wednesday by a private TV channel.

Sources said around 10,000 rickshaws will be available for free travel. These rickshaws will operate across different parts of Lahore. Citizens will be able to use them without paying any fare.

Officials confirmed progress on agreements with ride-hailing companies Yango and InDrive. Under the plan, both companies will provide rickshaws for three days. These days will cover the main Basant celebrations.

In exchange, the companies will run free advertising campaigns linked to Basant. This partnership allows the city to expand transport options. It also supports festival-related promotions.

The free Rickshaw Rides will not require online booking. Citizens can board rickshaws from any location. This makes the service easy for people of all ages.

Rickshaws will be stationed in busy areas and residential zones. They will operate throughout the day. Officials aim to ensure smooth movement during peak hours.

Public transport will also remain free during the festival period. This includes buses operating within Lahore. The initiative is meant to encourage shared travel.

Authorities have also planned free bus services from nearby districts. These buses will bring visitors to Lahore from other parts of the division. The goal is to make Basant accessible to more people.

Officials said the main purpose is to reduce motorcycle usage. Motorcycles increase traffic congestion and safety risks. Free transport offers a safer alternative.

City officials believe the plan will help control road pressure. It may also reduce fuel costs for citizens. Families can attend Basant events without transport worries.

Security and traffic teams will monitor operations closely. Coordination will ensure rickshaws and buses run smoothly. Any issues will be addressed quickly.
