Veteran broadcaster Ishrat Fatima officially rejoins PTV to mentor aspiring newscasters, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, announced on Thursday.
The announcement was made at Fatima’s residence in Islamabad, with Secretary for Information Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil, Media Coordinator Badar Shahbaz, and Principal Information Officer Mubashir Hassan present.
Minister Tarar expressed gratitude to Ishrat Fatima for accepting the invitation to rejoin PTV. He said her experience will be invaluable in training newcomers in news reading and broadcasting. “She is a seasoned newscaster with an illustrious career. Her voice is recognized by every Pakistani,” he added.
Fatima brings over 45 years of service, including a long tenure at Radio Pakistan, to her new role. The minister emphasized that her return will strengthen PTV as an institution and promote the Urdu language among the next generation of broadcasters.
“She maintained professional integrity throughout her career without any political associations,” Tarar noted. “Her mentorship will inspire young professionals and elevate PTV’s standards.”
Ishrat Fatima shared her excitement about returning to national television. “News reading has been my lifelong passion. I am honored to rejoin PTV and teach the younger generation,” she said. She also urged the government to continue supporting talented individuals across different fields.
The ministry hinted at a special program to formally welcome her back on PTV, highlighting the broadcaster’s significant contributions to the media industry. Fatima’s role will include hands-on training sessions, workshops, and guidance for new anchors and journalists.
With Ishrat Fatima’s return, PTV aims to combine traditional broadcasting expertise with modern media trends, ensuring that future newscasters are well-prepared for the challenges of contemporary journalism.
